I’m Isabel Warner, an upcoming Jackson Hole Community School senior. I love to be active! I’ve been racing my bike since sixth grade with the Teton Valley composite bike team and at a variety of local races. For the past three years I have raced Pierre’s hole. I love to ride competitively and I also enjoy bike packing with my family. In the winter, I trade my bike in for Nordic skis and enjoy downhill and backcountry skiing as well. Strength training with Wright Training sets me up for success in all my sports by creating a great foundation for injury prevention and increased power. I started at WrightTraining a couple of summers ago with teen fit and have always appreciated their commitment to teaching good form, especially to younger athletes.
Where are you from?
I grew up in Victor, ID and still live here today.
What made you get into biking?
My whole family biked when I was younger, so I learned early on. Then in 6th grade I joined the local bike team and got hooked on trying to go faster and further on my bike.
What's your favorite type of fuel for biking?
My favorite fuels for biking are honey stinger waffles and apple slices.
What's your favorite sport besides biking?
My favorite sports besides biking are cross-country skiing (great cross-training) and alpine skiing.
What's your biggest race this season?
My biggest race this season is Pierre's Hole- the 50K in August.
Do you get nervous?
I do get nervous before competitions. I usually try to focus my energy on making process goals and controlling the things I can control to help center myself.
How has strength training helped your sports?
Strength training has helped me maintain balance in my sports and ensure my whole body is strong, not just the specific muscles I use in one sport. I have also noticed strengthening the smaller stabilizing muscles has improved my riding technique and the plyometric movement incorporated into workouts has improved my power on the bike.
