The Perks of Training with a Sandbag:
Sandbag Training..can be a very sore subject, but here is some insight on the benefits of training with a sandbag:
1. Body position is extremely important with sandbag training. SB training can be exhausting, but our number 1 priority needs to be what I like to
refer to as a “head to toe check”, where are your feet, knees, hips, back, shoulder, and head positioned? Proper mechanics can go a long way on being efficient and effective in your training.
2. Holding position, there are up to 11 different positions to utilize the sandbag depending on the exercise, utilize these to your advantage to be efficient and smart.
3. Lastly, what can a sandbag do that no other training implement can do? Change its dimension. We often see that as a fault that the “weight shifts” in the bag, but really this is a great training variable as all other tools (barbell, KB, DB) are unable to do that, therefore we can make the sandbag stable or unstable depending on the exercise and plane of movement which can be beneficial when building on progressions.
