Are you hitting the gym hard but not seeing the results you want? Are you not losing that pesky weight? You may need to take a deep, hard look at your diet. I know some people work out so they can still eat whatever they want, but little steps can make huge strides. A simple saying goes “The carrot over the candy bar.”
This is especially true with your overall health for your lifetime. You may not notice changes in your body immediately, but 5-10-15 years down the road it could be substantial. Not only for weight management but disease prevention as well.
I’ve even heard people say “The FDA wouldn’t approve it if it was that bad for me.” HAH! The FDA approved it because it doesn’t contain rat poison and you won’t drop dead as soon as you eat it. If you do enough of your own research and you’ll understand the same people saying it’s okay for you are the same people invested in pharmaceuticals. They’re in the business of keeping you sick so you keep needing their drugs that only mask the symptoms.
I won’t go off on a huge tangent politically, but truly take a look at what you eat. How many processed grains do you eat a day? Sugars? Dairy? High Fructose Corn Syrup? Hydrogenated oils? Soy? Corn? All of those ingredients are inflammatory elements. I’m not saying for anybody to go full on paleo or change your whole life right away, but start reading your labels. I guarantee if you’ve never paid attention before you will notice how those ingredients are in EVERYTHING!
After your meals are you gassy? Do you get tired? Indigestion or heart burn? Do you have regular bowel movements? These are all signs of digestive upset, meaning your body is having a hard time processing what you have consumed.
It can be difficult as a trainer when people don’t see the results they want, but won’t change what they eat. My best suggestion is to invest in a paleo cook book.

From personal experience the meals are absolutely delicious, and only contain foods that promote HEALTH! This doesn’t need to be your every meal because when it comes to quality of life, yes, we still want to enjoy the pleasures of modern food. However, when you cook at home it ought to be wellness promoting foods. You may just be pleasantly surprise by your new found level of energy, optimism, and results from your efforts in the gym! The number one reason for bankruptcy in the nation right now is medical bills. Don’t let your decisions put you into that same boat later in life. The carrot over the candy bar.
